Rich Allen is an independent consultant and socio-technical architect focused on helping organizations optimize for fast flow.
With over two decades of hands-on technical experience as a software developer, Rich has held many roles from software engineer and tech lead through to architect and CTO of a bootstrapped startup.
As one of the longest-serving Team Topologies Valued Practitioners, he has practical experience of helping organizations adopt Team Topologies patterns, principles and practices.
Rich specializes in uncovering bottlenecks, optimizing flow, and fostering cultures of continuous learning. He created and is the curator of User Needs Mapping, a widely adopted technique for defining effective team and service boundaries.
Rich also co-founded and ran the Developer South Coast technology user group for over 13 years and holds a BEng in Microelectronics and Computing from Bournemouth University.
