See-Do-Teach Programs
Embed and expand capabilities with See-Do-Teach
Our approach to embedding and extending capabilities is based upon the ‘See One, Do One, Teach One’ methodology of teaching originally developed to teach new techniques to medical students.
We guide and coach your Enabling teams to be able to use new techniques with their peers inside your organization through an extended and in-depth exploration of a particular topic or area over several workshop sessions. In this way, members of your Enabling teams have the time and space they need to really deepen their understanding, and develop and practice their skills.
We begin with ‘See One’ where new ideas and techniques are first introduced and practiced. Conflux practitioners lead the sessions, helping your Enabling team to understand the topic and materials, not only from an attendee’s perspective, but also gain additional insights on how to present and use the material as facilitators themselves.
We then move on to ‘Do One’ where members of your Enabling team use their new skills to facilitate a session with the other members of the Enabling team, supported and guided by Conflux. This is in effect a ‘dry run’ for your Enabling team, allowing them to test and deepen their own understanding and knowledge, and learn from each other in a safe environment.
The next stage is ‘Teach One’, when your Enabling team is able to go on to embed knowledge and begin to build capabilities across the wider organization, shadowed by Conflux. In this session, the Enabling team will collectively facilitate a workshop to a wider group from your organization, giving them the opportunity to practice their new skills and knowledge, and learn from their peers through observation.
The final session in the program is an opportunity for Conflux to give feedback and recommendations, and also for the group to reflect and give feedback to each other, to deepen learning and insights from the Teach One session.
All sessions from Conflux are co-designed with Matthew Skelton, co-author of the book Team Topologies.
Session | Facilitator | Description | Purpose |
---|---|---|---|
See | Conflux | Attendees are asked to ‘wear two hats’: participate as typical attendees, whilst also taking note of how to facilitate the session and present the material. | Attendees get an understanding of the subject, and also of how to use the material as facilitators. |
Do | Enabling team | Attendees facilitate the session to each other. | Demonstrate understanding and practice facilitation skills. |
Teach | Enabling team | Attendees collectively facilitate a session with others from the organization. | Consolidate knowledge and facilitation skills. |
Insight session | Conflux | Feedback and reflection. | Deepen learning and insights. |
The See-Do-Teach phases are often repeated to deepen and extend familiarity and awareness: after running some sessions with peers, your Enabling team might return to Conflux for further See or Do sessions, this time bringing practical experience from previous sessions.
We therefore recommend that for some group learning sessions, you buy at least three sets of sessions (See, Do, Teach) and preferably several more so that learning can be embedded and enhanced over a longer period.
A typical approach might take place like this:
The first See-Do-Teach cycle
See: Conflux facilitates the first session with your Enabling team.
Do: your Enabling team facilitates a session with their peers with Conflux support.
Teach: your Enabling team embeds the knowledge and skills across a pioneer group in the organization, shadowed by Conflux.
The Enabling team begins to put into practice the ideas, gaining experience.
The second See-Do-Teach cycle to embed and expand awareness:
See: Conflux facilitates the first session with your Enabling team.
Do: your Enabling team facilitates a session with their peers with Conflux support.
Teach: your Enabling team embeds the knowledge and skills across the wider organization, shadowed by Conflux.
The Enabling team expands its use of the new techniques across the organization.

Workshop materials
At the conclusion of the program, Conflux will provide a white-label version of the Miro board used for the workshop sessions that you will be able to use and modify for use within your own organization.
